Eric Morrison, aka “The Body Transformer,” started bodybuilding early in his life after being tired of his scrawny little body. He just read everything he could about doing it and then DID IT! The results have been phenomenal for him and it drove Eric to continue the education process. And about 10 years ago he came across all the compelling evidence for livin’ la vida low-carb which went against everything he’d ever known about healthy weight loss and fitness. But what he read made sense and today he is professing the positive health benefits of this way of eating to everyone who’ll listen.

  4. Eric said to eat all day once a week meals with lots of carbs in them (not sugary foods) as your refeed.

  5. Will this make you lose weight faster then doing a strict induction faze on Atkins 20 grams? and what do you think about it jimmy i mean look at the guy on the other hand it takes 2or3 days to get into ketosis and your only in it for 3 or 4 days then wham carbup talk about shocking the system.since i weigh 307 i don’t know if i should try it or not i do lift weights three days a week.

  6. I wouldn’t personally do it Bill. My body doesn’t need that many carbs–EVER!

  7. Then i will just stick to Atkins induction thank’s Jimmy.

  9. Hey Jimmy,

Has Christine added weights into her routine?? I’m interested in finding out just HOW weight lifting affects us gals and how we can best add this into our routines… And Eric, if you read this, I’d love YOUR feedback, also!

    Thanks!

  10. I’d like to know what a typical daily menu is for Eric on a low carb day.

    Thanks

  11. Great show Jimmy…lot’s of helpful info.
    Best,
    Coop

  12. Joy, I lift using P90 Masters and have seen some amazing results. I’m shrinking a lot faster than the scale would suggest and I know it is very good for building bone density and preventing osteoporosis. I will shout, “lift heavy and lift often” from the treetops. A lot of women do more reps since they are afraid of getting “big” but we don’t get big without extra hormones so I choose a weight that has me tuckers out at about 8-10 reps. I use free weights since machines are expensive and made for mens bodies and don’t allow you to use a lot of stabaliser muscles. I know jimmy did an interview with a woman a couple weeks back… foresythe {sp?} and a couple people over at ADBB are using it with a lot of positive remarks. I also recommend taking a look at http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/index.php

  13. Joy, here is the interview I mentioned and there is a link to the book she wrote, “new rules of lifting for women.” I plan to get a copy in the next couple months but I’ve heard nothing but good about it.

  14. question one: can you find out more about the carb up faze?
answer: eat every three hours, eat carb containing foods with every feeding. if you get hungry before three hours. .eat again. Eat only until you are satisfied. .DON”T STUFF. . .
do not add in extra protein and fats . . .if those things come along with it, that is fine. . . the insulin spike raises leptin levels which then “-pull” your thyroid levels really high. .this lasts for about a week if you do the full refeed for 16 hours. . .you will be sweating and hot at night when you do it. .
Yes, you will gain water weight but by the end of the week, you will be down more fat and all the water gone. .. one of my clients reports 2″ loss on hips and stomach (4 total) almost every week. She is heavy so those that are not really big will not see such dramatic losses but she is doing this while eating 2600 kcals. .. :)
She has also went from 5 modified pushups to doing 20 regular one over about 8 weeks. . .

question 2: I’d like to know what a typical daily menu is for Eric on a low carb day

feeding one: 2 tsp greens +, 1 tbsp flax oil, 1 tbsp olive oil, 2 scoops whey isolate, 2 tbsp peanut butter ( all natural)

Feeding 2: 4 eggs and 2 strips bacon

Feeding 3 : same shake as above. .with 1/2 cup raspberries

Feeding 4: Chicken leg with skin and Green salad or some other greens veggies

Feeding 5: 5 oz steak with greens and some almonds.

If I eat a snack before bed, it usually is something like a hard cheese with mayonaise and some broccoli (raw) with a creamy dip. . . My carbs don’t usually go above 30 grams net . . .

Thyroid and leptin a powerful allies when losing weight. .take advantage. . .you can only try it and see how you like it. . .
p.s. I also have my clients take dandelion root during the week to ward off the water weight. . .:)

  15. Supplements I take:
500mg arginine in the am and pm
Juice Plus (fruit and veg dried out and in caps.. .) 2 in am, 2 in pm

    Greens+

NKO Krill oil (4 per day)

    4 salmon oil caps.

  16. I’m interested in finding out just HOW weight lifting affects us gals and how we can best add this into our routines?

    answer:
I have all my clients do some form of weights. .. I am big into eastern medicine and have them do a “five elements” personality test to see what type of person they are. . .I devise all routines based on that. . you can see a great article by Charles Poliquin (amazing strength coach) here. .
    http://www.mikedemeter.com/articles/5%20Elements%20-%20Poliquin.pdf

For example. .my wife has a strong “water aspect and I tend to have her do longer rest and recovery phases each month with lots of stretching and only have her do really heavy lifting for maybe one week of every month. THe rest is lots of higher rep, moderate volume training.

  17. oops, I forgot to say when and how long on the carb up. .
one day per week. . .all day (16 hours). ..newbies must do 2 week induction phase first and do first reload after 14th day.

  18. Question: Will this make you lose weight faster then doing a strict induction faze on Atkins 20 grams? and what do you think about it jimmy i mean look at the guy on the other hand it takes 2or3 days to get into ketosis and your only in it for 3 or 4 days then wham carbup talk about shocking the system.since i weigh 307 i don’t know if i should try it or not i do lift weights three days a week.

Joy, I missed answering this one. . .
I don’t worry about weight.. .I look at inches and weight:) Yes, stimulating leptin and thyroid levels by manipulating insulin (master controller) will make your fat stores fall off faster.. . .when you do low carb for a long time you don’t get the benefit of a racing metabolism. I keep my clients metabolisms fast by doing this and as they get closer to their goals, I back off on the reloads and get the metabolism slower. . .I look at it like this . .if you have a 40 watt bulb and run it full out all the time, it is going to fizzle out faster. . .so I keep my clients at full 40 watts until they are at goal and then instead of being a “fast metabolism” I promote a “properly working metabolism”..but to get the fat of fast, we need to speed it up temporarily. . .

  19. Eric what would a typical refeed day look like for you and do you aim for any differance in calorie levels between the low carb days and refeed days (eg. moderate calories on low carb days/high calories on refeeds) ? Also would you discuss more on your beliefs about “post workout nutrition” and protein requirements for bodybuilders in terms of gram per pound requirements or percentage of calories? lastly I greatly appreciate your time .
